Functionalized Multicolor Fluorescent Nanodiamonds

Fluorescent nanodiamonds are a chemically robust, infinitely photostable, and biocompatible fluorophore with a range of functional surface chemistries. Relevant applications include fiducial marking, super-resolution microscopy, multiphoton microscopy, time-gated microscopy, and correlative microscopy.

Below is our selection of patent-protected novel nanodiamonds available only at Adamas with a combination of color centers within the same particle: nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers possessing red-to-near-infrared fluorescence and NVN centers with green fluorescence. Such particles can be used as a green fluorescent label due to the presence of NVN while also being capable of sensing of the surrounding environment due to presence of NV centers. In combination with spectrally pure FND with NV centers, these dual-color particles open new perspectives for multiplexed sensing (Fig.1).

Due to high temperature treatment used for production of multicolor particles, spin properties of NV centers in these particles are significantly improved, making them more sensitive quantum sensors than standard fluorescent diamond particles containing NV centers (Fig.2).
